Sadly May’s DC Rock-n-Tot is cancelled
It is with great sadness that I have to cancel May’s Rock-n-Tot DC. I’ve struggled with this decision for almost 2 weeks now. In fact I have been so upset and stressed out about it I’ve made myself sick … physically … I have a terrible head cold now because I haven’t been able to sleep or think about anything else.
Naomi’s Paid For By Views Like You post is quite timely and probably because I have been struggling so much lately with this decision. I absolutely love producing the Rock-n-Tot events, and all the “behind the scenes” work makes it worth it on the day of the event … seeing everyone having fun with their families and everything coming together; that makes the sleepless nights and thousand items To Do list all worth it.
But none of that can happen without ticket sales. And that is where we are in May. We wondered how sales would be once the weather was nice and people could be outside and May has proved we are no match for the great outdoors. Our ticket sales are non existent and Naomi and I have no intention of putting on mediocre events, we want them all to be great. But to be great we need ticket sales.
I still think we can have some fantastic fun in the summer. We do have some great things planned in the coming months that I want to see happen. So I am not cancelling the June, July or August events that we have planned. But should it get to two weeks before an event and the ticket sales don’t support having the event, I will once again need to cancel. Moving tickets to a future event or offering refunds will come with a cancellation but I really don’t want to have to cancel.
Our summer is planned around these events and I hope that is the same for some of you too.
I am sorry to see that you have cancelled. My son, husband and I were really looking forward to coming. My son, his grandmother and I came to the March event and really had a great time. I told my husbamd about all the fun and he was looking forward to coming. Unfortunately we were unable to make April’s event because we had to visit a sick relative in Colorado.
I am sure some people were maybe waiting to order their tickets. Hopefully you will have a better response next month. I am really upset I can’t make that one either. We are throwing my mother a Super 60 Birthday Party in PA!
Good luck and keep the emails coming.
Oh no!! What a bummer - I definitely think that people may wait until the 11th hour during the summer…and hopefully, you guys can wait it out. I think in the end a nice, air conditioned family friendly event will win out!
I’m soo disappointed I was really looking forward to bringing my 8 month old and my 11 yr old. Hopefully we’ll be able to make the next one.
I am sorry you guys had to cancel! We would love it if you could find a venue in Northern VA to hold a session, and I know that as the local pre-school circuit is starting summer break you would have a great response! I hope you will try to plan another one in our area this summer. The DC venues are harder for us to get to, MD is more accessible to DC by car. Most of us would drive, as we have more than one little one and naps in the car are better than no naps and Metro!!! But I would love to come no matter what! Please let us know if you plan another soon. And maybe check out a few venues in VA? I know there are a lot of places in Springfield VA that would work great, as would the Vienna Community Center in Vienna, VA!!
